Раз – письмо в WaPo про то, как авторша ненавидит всех мужчин. Thanks for not raping us, all you ‘good men.’ But it’s not enough. Написано отставной профессоршей истории из Гриннелла.

Два – душераздирающее эссе про то, что либеральные мужчины, со всех сторон правильные, образование в Art History, работа в нон-профите и так далее, не желают поддерживать своих либеральных женщин в их справедливой борьбе и дезертируют с поля битвы, бросая подруг, чья постоянная истерика им осточертела. Виноват в этом, понятно, Трамп. Без слез не прочитать, рекомендую целиком.

An unexpected object of reverence

Двадцать лет назад был сделан ремейк Parent Trap, фильм о том, как случайно встретившиеся в летнем лагере девчонки-близнецы – их в младенчестве поделили разводящиеся родители, так что они друг про друга даже не знали – этих самых родителей доводят до повторной свадьбы. Детский такой фильм, довольно милый. Помимо девчонок и их родителей там фигурирует крайне неприятная красотка по имени Мередит Блейк, которая пытается отца девчонок на себе женить. Резко отрицательный персонаж, без полутонов, как в детском фильме и положено. Чтоб никаких сомнений не было.

И вот читаю я на Воксе, что Meredith Blake is a symbol of women reclaiming the right to be assertive, кумир и пример для подражания, и вообще сукой теперь быть хорошо и правильно. Не мешает даже то, что вся ее assertiveness сводится к тому, чтобы выйти замуж за мужика с миллионами. Мало того, она еще и queer femme icon.

Это, конечно, не зависть к гиенам с их псевдопенисами, но тоже впечатляет. Нынешний феминизм все-таки чрезвычайно странен.

Why can’t we hate men?

So, in this moment, here in the land of legislatively legitimated toxic masculinity, is it really so illogical to hate men? For all the power of #MeToo and #TimesUp and the women’s marches, only a relatively few men have been called to task, and I’ve yet to see a mass wave of prosecutions or even serious recognition of wrongdoing.

Opinions в WaPo теперь появляются ничем не хуже, чем на безумных Феминистинге и Ежедневном Феминизме. Автор, понятно, "professor of sociology and director of the Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Program at Northeastern University". Прогресс не остановить.

Miss America on Tuesday announced that it will no longer judge contestants based on their physical appearance and said it will eliminate its swimsuit competition.

In lieu of swimsuits, Miss America contestants from all 50 states and the District of Columbia will be participating in a live interactive session with the judges.

They will be asked to demonstrate their passion, intelligence and understanding of Miss America’s job, GMA reported.

Contestants will also no longer be required to wear an evening gown.

The Miss America organization will instead ask them to express their personal style in clothes they feel confident in.

“We are now open, inclusive and transparent and I want to inspire thousands of young people across this country to come and be a part of our program,” Carlson said on Tuesday. “We want you and we want to celebrate your accomplishments and your talents and then we want to hand you scholarships.”

Вопросы редистрибуции

Как известно, чтобы всем было хорошо, надо победить inequality, то есть отнять все да и поделить. Пока речь идет о материальных благах, по этому поводу наблюдается благожелательный консенсус – в смысле, в тех же интеллектуальных кругах, где идеологическое разнообразие достигается путем выкидывания центристов и замены их на крайне левых. А что происходит в остальных кругах, все равно никого не интересует. Но тут речь заходит о других видах inequalities. Скажем, о людях, которые лишены секса. Как насчет sex redistribution? Тут уже консенсуса гораздо меньше. Потому что если вопрос стоит об угнетенных трансгендерах, которых никто не хочет, то это одно; а вот если об угнетателях-incels, белых и гетеросексуальных, которых тоже никто не хочет, то это уже совершенно другое. Хрен им, угнетателям, а не sex redistribution, ишь чего захотели. И вообще sex redistribution –  это изнасилование. Отнимать и делить commodities это хорошо и всем на пользу, а секс никак нельзя. Если, конечно, речь не о трансгендерах, тем, наоборот, нельзя в сексе отказывать, иначе это bigotry и transphobia.

Забавно, что Ross Douthat, написавший статью про sex redistribution, вовсе его не требовал – просто предположил, что, возможно, когда-нибудь до этого может дойти. Просто от стремления к справедливости. С помощью роботов, наверно. Тем не менее ему на голову уже третью неделю льется поток народного гнева.

Очень непросто все в интеллектуальных кругах.

Tough to imagine

Правый сайт Hot Air пишет про Шнайдермана всякое разное, и среди прочего попадается вот такой абзац:

Assuming her allegations are true (and it’s tough to imagine why anyone would go public with such a horrible story if it weren’t), Schneiderman’s habits went far beyond roleplaying, were non-consensual and ran into some shockingly dark behavior.

Я этот аргумент не понимал, когда его употребляли в разговорах про университетскую rape culture, когда им размахивали во время выборов в Алабаме, и сейчас я его тоже не понимаю. Чего там сложно себе представить? Причин у желания выступить с какими угодно обвинениями может быть до черта. В случае с обвинениями в конкретно этом жанре человечеству это отлично известно как минимум с тех пор, как  Иосиф Прекрасный неудачно поговорил с женой Потифара. И это не говоря про особенности идеологического верного мировоззрения во времена победившего феминизма четвертой волны.

Кстати, про это самое мировоззрение: попалась мне давеча на глаза пижама (для девочки лет десяти-двенадцати) с вот таким узором:

Интересно, а для мальчиков соответствующие пижамы делают?

UPD: этот узор, оказывается, даже в Википедию попал. И нет, для мальчиков там ничего не было, только для девочек.
