For Democrats and especially the President (who can kill any fix with his pen), it’s time for the big gut check, one that’s not only about 2014 but stretches back into the 1940s and has implications probably decades into the future.
NYT:
WASHINGTON — President Obama bowed to mounting political pressure from across the country and on Capitol Hill on Thursday, announcing new rules that will let insurance companies keep people on health care plans that would not have been allowed under the Affordable Care Act.
Не выдержали демократы левацкого гат-чека, хехехе. Главный же цирк – ни Obamacare, ни демократам от этого лучше не станет. Если б еще республиканцам хватило ума в это все не залезать, получилось бы просто идеально. Ну, если не считать того прискорбного обстоятельства, что теперь всем придется платить больше, а здравоохранение будет хуже.
Хуже всех сейчас, кстати говоря, страховым компаниям. Вот где не хотел бы я сейчас работать – это ж им опять все переделывать. Страшно подумать, что там теперь происходит. И они же, между прочим, окажутся во всем виноваты, поскольку жадные капиталисты.
UPD: заявление NAIC, национальной ассоциации страховых комиссионеров, то есть регуляторы страховых дел на уровне штатов.
…it is unclear how, as a practical matter, the changes proposed today by the President can be put into effect. In many states, cancellation notices have already gone out to policyholders and rates and plans have already been approved for 2014. Changing the rules through administrative action at this late date creates uncertainty and may not address the underlying issues. We look forward to learning more details of this policy change and about how the administration proposes that regulators and insurers make this work for all consumers.

UPD 2: а штат Вашингтон просто послал Обаму с этим делом подальше. Мол, в нашем штате страховые компании будут по-прежнему обязаны действовать в соответствии с твоим законом, не морочь голову.
