Любопытная статья на RCP: поклонники Ромни утверждают, что Гингрич неизбирабелен, поклонники Гингрича говорят то же самое про Ромни, но беспокоиться не о чем, потому что Обама тоже неизбирабелен. Так что все в одной весовой категории.
Совершенно согласен. У Гингрича полная пазуха бывших жен, этических расследований и консультационных гонораров от неправильных контор; Ромни может похвастаться медицинской реформой в Массачусеттсе и всякими налогами, и Обама за свои еще не четыре года тоже наработал багажа будь здоров, за пустой экран теперь никак не сойдет. В общем, титаническая битва инвалидов. Мой прогноз, однако, остается в силе: Обамин электорат гораздо легче верит в сказки, хотя шевеления и там кое-какие происходят.

If you have must carry, then the insurance companies have told us that we can have must-issue, and you will therefore have a system in which you don’t have to worry about cherry-picking and maneuvering. … This is the kind of general model we will be advocating.

Интересный эффект: NBC запретила публике шуметь во время вчерашних дебатов. Похоже, именно в результате этого Гингрич выглядел намного менее убедительно, чем в Южной Каролине – не было поддержки зала. Комментаторы сходятся на том, что выиграл Ромни. Любопытно, поможет ли это ему сократить разрыв, образовавшийся в рейтингах.
UPD: Гингрич заявил, что не будет участвовать в дебатах, если публике будет запрещено реагировать.

Florida polls
Rasmussen:
Less than two weeks ago, Mitt Romney had a 22-point lead in Florida, but that’s ancient history in the race for the Republican presidential nomination. Following his big win in South Carolina on Saturday, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich now is on top in Florida by nine.
The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Florida Republican Primary Voters, taken Sunday evening, finds Gingrich earning 41% of the vote with Romney in second at 32%.
