THE first thing to say about the attempted massacre of congressional Republicans on a baseball field in suburban Virginia is that the motivations of the shooter were unusual. By which I mean that, based on what we know, James Hodgkinson had surprisingly normal political beliefs. He hated Donald Trump, he liked Bernie Sanders, he wanted higher taxes on the wealthy.

Прочитав очередной bombshell от Washington Post, с отвращением подумал, что я это кино уже видел: как раньше Коми страховался тем, что анонимно сливал слухи про расследование против Трампа, так теперь и Мюллер страхуется тем же самым. Авось на этот раз Трамп побоится меры принимать, после истории с Коми. Интересно, сколько раз нам еще это кино смотреть, и на которой итерации Трампа все-таки сожрут. Кстати, про разы: это, если не ошибаюсь, в первый раз американский президент вступил в открытую конфронтацию с силовиками. Гувера все президенты боялись, с прочими шпионами тоже вроде никто не ссорился, похоже, Трамп тут первый? Хотя Никсона ж тоже ФБР скинуло, когда он после Гувера не того человека директором назначил.

The man suspected of firing dozens of rounds into an Alexandria baseball field Wednesday morning has been identified by federal law enforcement officials as James T. Hodgkinson, 66, of Belleville, Ill.
A Facebook page belonging to a person with the same name includes pictures of Democratic presidential candidate, Bernie Sanders, and rhetoric against President Trump, including a post that reads: “Trump is a Traitor. Trump Has Destroyed Our Democracy. It’s Time to Destroy Trump & Co.”

Судя по комментариям, демократы это и так с самого начала прекрасно знают. Самая популярная позиция выглядит как “ну и что, все равно он в президенты не годится”. Еще из тамошних комментариев узнал, что “Dershowitz is over-rated and always has been. His views are on the extreme end of the right wing.”
