Now we have to read the answers to our questions in the media. There are many other questions that remain unanswered. But this latest episode is another reason why many of us are so frustrated with, and suspicious of, the actions of this Administration when it comes to the Benghazi attack.”

Отличный спин, такой наглый, что прямо глаза режет. Какая разница, сознательно Райс вводила публику в заблуждение или свято верила в то, что говорит? Давно очевидно, что администрации было известно, что видео тут ни при чем, и что объяснение атаки таким образом – чисто политическое решение, по не менее очевидным причинам. Перевод стрелок на то, что Райс могла и не знать, что ей подсунули тухлые talking points – отличная иллюстрация уровня, на котором пресса воюет за Обаму любыми средствами, не стесняясь ходов, которые вообще никакой критики не выдерживают.

CBS News has learned that the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (DNI) cut specific references to “al Qaeda” and “terrorism” from the unclassified talking points given to Ambassador Susan Rice on the Benghazi consulate attack – with the agreement of the CIA and FBI. The White House or State Department did not make those changes. …
However, an intelligence source tells CBS News correspondent Margaret Brennan the links to al Qaeda were deemed too “tenuous” to make public, because there was not strong confidence in the person providing the intelligence. CIA Director David Petraeus, however, told Congress he agreed to release the information — the reference to al Qaeda — in an early draft of the talking points, which were also distributed to select lawmakers.
“The intelligence community assessed from the very beginning that what happened in Benghazi was a terrorist attack.” DNI spokesman Shawn Turner tells CBS News. That information was shared at a classified level — which Rice, as a member of President Obama’s cabinet, would have been privy to. …
The head of the DNI is James Clapper, an Obama appointee. He ultimately did review the points, before they were given to Ambassador Rice and members of the House intelligence committee on Sept. 14. They were compiled the day before.

А вот Рид твердой рукой пресекает безосновательные попытки республиканцев оклеветать президента и доблестных представителей его администрации. Никаких специальных расследований в Сенате не будет – и не потому даже, что за них не проголосуют, а потому, что Рид просто не будет ставить это на голосование. Обломитесь. In letters to key Republican senators, Reid put his foot down — again — on the idea of a special panel to dig into the Sept. 11 assault that killed U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens and three diplomatic aides in Libya. A select committee would need a floor vote to be created, and Reid said he wouldn’t permit it.
“I refuse to allow the Senate to be used as a venue for baseless partisan attacks,” Reid wrote in the three-page letter, released Friday evening.

So I can’t speak to any other edits that may have been made.”

Regarding the allegations that the original CIA talking points had been changed so that terrorist involvement was not included, Sen. Chambliss said, “Everybody there was asked do you know who made these changes; and nobody knew. The only entity that reviewed the talking points that was not there was the White House.”

Холдер соизволил наконец объяснить, почему он, зная о расследовании в отношении Петреуса, якобы не стал информировать президента: оказывается, его департамент не информирует президента об обычных криминальных расследованиях. Подумаешь, директор ЦРУ, ничего особенного. Ну и угрозы национальной безопасности не было, так чего беспокоить занятого человека зря.
